I have both, but seldom use the 70-200 f/4L now that I have the 70-300 f/4-5.6 L IS, which is an amazing lens. Yesterday afternoon/early evening I took shots at the Blues, Bluegrass and Barbecue Festival in Decatur (just east of Atlanta), in difficult lighting (lots of backlighting when shooting performers on stage, constantly shifting light because of threatening thunderclouds, fading light after 7 p.m.), and I was impressed that I could still get shots with a shutter speed as low as 1/60th of a second--a testament to the next-generation IS on this lens. Processed in LR4 to reduce noise, since I used Auto ISO set to a maximum of 3200 (first time using the new 7D firmware). Here are some samples:
