E-510 slow slow slow slow

Love my 510, however such a slow slow slow camera!! Often depressing the shutter button results in nothing . . . . often there is a loooooong delay before the shutter activates (3,5,8) seconds.

Sometimes when shooting several photos in rapid succession, the camera suddenly has a lengthy delay before shooting again. This can happen in either well lit or dim situations.

The slowness of the camera becomes more siginificant in lower light situations.

Any way to make this camera faster?
