Highest monitor resolutions available?

What's the next step UP after the 2560 x 1440 resolution and what's available out there that does that?

I have a Samsung 24" in 1920x1200 resolution and thinking of either getting another one (hard to find) or getting a 27" 2560 x 1440 monitor.

Yes, I know I get more real estate with two 24 inchers with the above resolution but if I put them next to each other, I'll wind up with about 2" of black frame right in front of me which I'll avoid with the 27 incher.

Suggestions for something with higher resolution?
