Thank you for your message.
Yes I am a aware that the G1X has a built in ND filter (3 stop), yet this is in a complete different league when compared to both the 6 stop and the 10 stop B+W filters.
You will find it very difficult to have a 1 second exposure in bright day light with only the G1X built-in filter with out overexposing your image (perhaps impossible!). On the other hand with a 10 stop filter you can have a 60 seconds exposure with out over exposing your images.
Just for a quick comparison:
A 3stop filter reduces light by 8 times ND density 0.9
A 6 stop filter reduces light by 64 times ND density 1.8
A 10 stop filter reduces light by 1,000 times ND density 3.0
As you can see the G1X built-in filter is worlds apart in terms of light reduction compared to both the 6 stop and 10 stop.
