RX100's Digital Zoom vs Panasonic 12X lens

I was surprised by how effective the RX100's digital zoom is. I'm using it as a travel camera to capture my life on the road as a software salesman. After a few surprising zoom shots I had to do one of those meaningless comparisons.

Looks like the Panasonic is going on Ebay... (biggest surprise is the sharpness of the lens)

SONY RX100 = 10X @ 280mm

Panasonic ZS3 = 12X @ 300mm
