The camera is locked down on a tripod. It's a 30 second exposure with the seating lit by a single flashlight pointing at a wall and some light seeping in from the lobby of the theatre. The model is painted with light for 4 seconds and then filled on the other side at a greater distance for 2 seconds. Both exposures are identical or as close to identical as I can duplicate with a moving flashlight. The background in each picture has the identical static lighting.
