Will it make a difference?

For a while there it was looking like there wouldn't be any compelling reason to switch up to the 5R from the 5N. I don't really care about WiFi and the switch to the F3's articulating screen is actually a negative. However if autofocus is vastly improved I'm going to feel a little down.

For my needs the 5N's AF is plenty fast enough. Though that might be because the longest AF lens I have on the NEX is 30mm...

Anyway, if it works (which remains to be shown) the on-sensor PDAF will probably only make a significant difference beyond 200mm - meaning with a very large lens. If you need to use such a focal length on the NEX, it won't make a difference size-wise to use an Alpha lens with the LA-EA2 adaptor.

And seeing how fast Sony has been releasing lenses, it might be ages until they come up with a good E-mount telephoto that would benefit from PDAF (I'm not interested in the 18-200).
