Most of the DSLRs that I know of have extensive options for processing your images in-camera, juicing up the images so that they look like what you get with a point-n-shoot: increased saturation, contrast, sharpness, perhaps fiddling with the colors like green foliage. The lower-end models tend to have lots of scene modes that will apply the proper settings for you.

The image quality of all newer DSLRs is very good, and you can buy good lenses to match.
