Playing back 1080p60 video files on a TV... one more option
Aug 15, 2012

Editing 1080p60 video files is fine, being able to easily play them back on a HDTV is even better!

I recently bought the new Sony NSZ-GS7 Internet Player with Google TV. This “connected-TV” stb also includes a Media Player that plays a large number of video/photo/music file formats from a USB key or HDD. For the list of supported 2D and 3D file formats: http://www.googletvforum.org/forum/google-tv-general-discussion/4604-google-tv-tips.html#sf3

It smoothly plays back my original (unprocessed) 1080p60-28mbps (.m2ts) video files from a USB key (I haven't yet tried it from a USB HDD) and my TV describes the input video stream coming from the GS7 as “HDMI2 16:9 1080p HD”.

It is said that Sony could introduce later this year a similar model with a BR player. Vizio has also announced a stb (Co-Star with Google TV) but its list of supported file formats is much shorter.
