Sony RX100 and purple streaks

I love this camera - takes great photos but one issue - if I shoot in to the sun with the sun in frame big purple streaks appear which ruin the photo.

I've not noticed anyone else on the Internet suffer this issue.

Do I have a faulty camera or is anyone else having this issue?

Its not an issue with other cameras - like my NEX5n or Nikon D800 - though they suffer from some lens flare it doesnt cause the big long purple streaks.
