A77 Can you hear mechanical noise with Steady Shot?

I took some shots late night so it was in a quiet room.

The shot was between 1-30 seconds. Steady Shot on, I can hear
mechanical noise throughtout the shot. Steady Shot off, no noise.

I understand you would turn off steady shot for longer exposures
but is that noise normal?
