Very nice heron shot. Don't be afraid to bump up the ISO even in good light. My base ISO for shooting birds is 400 and when the light is a bit dull I usually shoot at ISO 800.

Here are some of my shots with the E-5 and 50-200mm SWD +EC2.0 handheld with ISO 800.
