Artisan 837 prints dark

I recently purchased an Artisan 837 after reading some laudatory reviews. However, I am disappointed in the print quality, not in terms of sharpness but in terms of darkness of the prints. This is regardless of paper, although I do use ultra premium photo glossy paper. Has anyone else had the same experience, and is there a solution? Thank you.
