Use of RX100 for skiing
I'm currently using a Canon G12 for skiing photos.
Argentina, Chile, NZ? Where do you find snow in August? Or are you Santa (ho ho ho to you!).
The RX100 is probably not a good bet for skiing photos. Reasons:
tiny size with petite manual controls make it difficult to use with gloved or cold hands.
too easy to slip out of fingers, especially if cold and damp.
not weather sealed and not cold tolerant. I doubt there is any protection against chill-out of batteries other than by keeping the camera warm or in operation.
no ND filter, so a high risk of white-out or loss of contrast and HD in a snowy scene.
too expensive to put at risk that way!
A POV helmet camera, or perhaps a rugged or tough P&S, are probably the most convenient way to shoot skiing stills or video. Even a G12 is too bulky and cumbersome to use on a slope with a 40 degree grade, 20mph wind, 10F temperature, and while observing a rapidly approaching avalanche.
