70-300 VC/VR Tamron or Nikon?

I'd recommend the Tamron. I researched those two lenses thoroughly and found the performance of the Nikon didn't justify it's price. In actual pictures the Tamron appeared just as sharp at all focal lengths and even edged out the Nikon at 300mm.
