I do not believe this.

Well just check out chats or e.g. this review here of Tamron's 70-200/2.8

http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Tamron-70-200mm-f-2.8-Di-Macro-Lens-Review.aspx

This typical. I experienced about the same drawbacks with my copy of the Tamron 70-200/2.8 (that I later replaced with Canon's EF 70-200/2.8 II, a more expensive but so much better lens). But if you are a bit lucky you can get really great Tamron copies.

The color is all faded from your photo.

Well, don't panic, it's not a quality issue of this Tamron lens ;-). You won't believe me but I do love to shoot people black & white.

And the kid's lips are nice and sharp.

thx, exactly. I wanted show with this example that this Tamron lens can produce decent IQ if it's AF works. And my new copy does it now smoothly.
