By default AutoStitch output size is about 1100 pixels wide but you can go to "options" and set "100%" then you'll get full width.
I tried it with up to date ICE and 100% width autostitch.
And it is true that ICE now give better result in the mean of better overlap management.
BUT ... I noticed that ICE produce distortion, the final picture is more compressed/thinner than original picture. For example if you take the mountain sample provided with AutoStitch, the result with ICE is that mountain's peak is more "vertical" than original one.
