Unfortunately, Olympus is tied with its attempt to make their digital system cameras look like their own analog legacy. This is called retro look.

This attempt, unfortunately, has significant consequences on control layout and other design decisions, which aren't necessarily favaorable for usabilty and ergonomics.

The menu system isn't that bad, but somehow not thought to the end. Not thought from a photgraphers practical perspective.

The practical perspective is still the field, where Panasonic products seem superior in many, many cases.
