Obsessed with the idea of focus peaking. (4 imgs)

So, I've been obsessed with the idea of focus peaking to the point that I almost bought an unneeded K-01 or a K-30 just so I could try it out. Then I decided to take my fastest lens, the Pentax-A 50mm f1.2 and use Live View at 10X and focus the dang thing so I could verify that I really don't need focus peaking. I am now satisfied enough to sit back and wait to see what the upcoming K-5 replacement will be.

Pentax K-5 + Pentax-A 50mm f1.2 at f1.2, ISO80, bird at 1/8s, toothpick at 1/6s, two second timer.

Image #1 - Focused on the crack of the beak at the point that the red and black meet.

Image #2 - A crop from the previous image. Dang! My bird needs a bath.

Image #3 - Focused on the tip of the toothpick.

Image #4 - A crop from the previous image.

Cheers.

Ron

Carl - 'What do you mean? It will only take 1/1000s.'

'Keep your eyes looking forward. However, glance back now and then to see where you've come from. It will put a smile on your face.' ~ brandrx
