What have I done (no need to call me an idiot, I already know I am)?

You've spent about $20 learning a lesson that many of us, myself included, have spent a lot more to learn. When you buy cheap camera gear, all too often you end up spending more by buying twice.

I'm not sure I've ever handled a Zeikos flter, but I've seen filters under the Opteka and Vivitar brands badged as "Multi-coated" which failed the simple test outlined here. It may be that their definition of "multi-coated" includes filters with single coatings on each side. It wouldn't be the first time.

The least expensive 95mm multicoated UV filter I've seen from a brand I trust runs about $90, and the Zeiss and Heliopan offerings can top $300.

You don't need me to rehash the perpetual discussions about UV vs. clear vs. not using a filter.

I miss the days when I used to be nostalgic.
