My fiance and I are travelling from Detroit to Ithaca NY to the Adirondacks for a honeymoon and back to Detroit.

Congrats to you both, I know I am rather late with my comments but I had this thread brought to my attention by someone else. I was in the Adirondacks back in the fall of 2008. Here are some photos from the area: http://www.pbase.com/windancer/adirondacks
I will post more as time permits.

I was there the final week of September and as you can see by my photos, the colours were spectacular. Obviously you will be there for different reasons than I was. I was only there a few short hours but I quickly came to the conclusion this was a very beautiful area.

In my case I did the major tourist things, I visited Lake Placid, ventured up the ski jump, saw the area where "The Miracle On Ice" took place in 1980 (yes I am more than old enough to remember that). I visited Sarnac Lake, along with Chazy, I will post a map with my route if you wish.

If you go, in Lake Placid seems to be a very nice place, I was at the Mirror Lake Inn and it seemed to be a beautiful place.

I have been an avid kayaker for over 20 years and IMO there are many places to go and kayak. http://www.pbase.com/windancer/image/142939871

Hope this helps in a small way, If you have any questions that I may be able to answer, please ask.

Terry

Remember, it's not the CPU that's in your camera that makes great images, it's the one located about 4" behind the viewfinder that does.
