The problem here is people keep focusing on price.

Low price is a volume game. Yes McDonalds has a low price but they serve "billions and billions" of cheap burgers.

To contemplate that a single photographer can fashion a successful business based on volume is to imagine conditions that do not exist in the wild.

Let us say you are a manager of an office. Your salary and benefits come to $60,000. What volume of sales does your employer need to make to pay you that sum and still have a profit that makes them happy?

Lets say you want to make that as a photographer. That is $5000 per month AFTER all your expenses. Or $1250 per week or $250 per day. Lets say you charge $25 for an 8x10. Ten sales per day assuming no costs does it. Have you ever sold ten 8x10s per day all week, all year?

Now if you are a friend who wants to oblige someone for $10 you are a hobbyist. That is fine but don't suggest that pros are being arrogant in avoiding situations that they recognize as time sucks with no return .
