Collecting "freeze" data for 7D bodies running V2 firmware
Aug 12, 2012

First let me say that I have no connection to Canon. What I do have is many years in the s/w dev business. I have a 7D, but cannot the reproduce the issue. What I'm trying to do is collect data from forum users who CAN reproduce the issue. If we can get a good sample size, hopefully Canon can identify where the regression is.

If you just want to discuss the firmware, please do so in other threads. I ask that this thread be solely for data collection. The questions I've asked imply no good or bad, just trying to get background.

Body S/N: (just first 6 digits)
(first 6 digits should ID when body was built)

Was firmware installed from USB or transferred to CF first?:

What URL did you use to pull the firmware?

Canon or 3rd pty battery and does it seem to favor a certain charge state (25%, 75%)?:

Manufacturer, speed, size of CF?:

Has the CF been formatted since the update?:

What files are you writing (Raw? JPG?, for instance RAW+Med Fine JPG)

Any accessories attached such as speedlites or battery grip and if removed, does camera still freeze?:

Do you find it's specific to a given lens or will happen on any lens you have?:
(please specify which lens if specific)

Are you using MFA?:

Are you using custom settings?

Do you have Auto Power off enabled and what setting?:

Other than the freezes, are you seeing other anomalous behavior?

Can you trigger the freeze at will?:

As best you can, please describe events that lead to freeze and what you do to recover?:
