How do you feel about the trillions of dollars poured down the tube in Iraq?

Oil protection. Sad.

Sad? Oil is the life blood of today's WORLD - replace it with something better, cheaper, cleaner, etc......and people will be killed over whatever it is that replaces it.

I saw so many vast green and lush corn fields today just driving 60 miles it was nuts. Can you say 'ethanol'.

An acre of corn field produces about 400 gallons of ethanol per year. If you tried to replace gasoline consumed by the US (well over 100,000,000,000 gallons per year) with that ethanol, you'd need over 500000 square miles of corn fields - roughly, 10 times the area of the state of Florida. And you'd have to pick out just the land suited for agriculture.

Another figure to put it in perspective: The entire area used in USA for crop production is under 600000 square miles.

Yep. Times will be changing re: the car we drive now.
You think fuel is expensive now?! Ha!

Well, whatever changes are in store, switching to corn-based ethanol is not in the cards. There's just no way to find that much land. Not even 5% of that.

And even if it was possible, the environmental impact would've been worse than drilling for oil.

But it's a "green" fuel - so they don't care about the environmental impact!!
