False, every lens does not align perfectly on every body. That is why we have the option of fine tune. If every lens works perfect on your D7000 consider yourself extremely lucky.

It's got a pretty good test chart with instructions.
That's quite strange actually.. I have a 14-24 2.8. 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8 and Tamron 180 macro that focusses dead on on my D700 with no fine tuning(center, left or right)... Am I one in a million???
