D800 AF issues: grass is always greener...

While visiting the Pentax SLR forum I came across a post titled "Have you seen the slaughter at the Nikon´s D800 forums?"

My curiosity piqued, I visited the D4/D800 forum and found some 20 threads in the past 24 hours on D4/D800 AF issues (in fairness, only two were on the D4). Must admit I felt a bit like Hitchcock peering with morbid fascination from the sidelines at a murder scene:

No gloating, any manufacturer can be handed an unexpected issue shortly after launch of a new camera. But the most common complaint, that for $3600 AF should work without glitches, struck a cord. I don't recall any AF complaints here on the E-M5 or for that matter other mFT's.
The E-M5's $1000 price tag suddenly looks like a bargain, and its 16MP Sony sensor looks better than ever, as do fast mFT primes. That the system has been as reliable as it has right out of the box is a much appreciated bonus.
It also reinforces my feeling that while one can always chase after that last bit of IQ, as with the D800, for me neither the significant cost or convenience penalties are worth the payback. Just me; I fully respect the needs/desires of professional and high-end enthusiast photographers, room for all of us.
