Why does the industry choose Compact Flash?

I have a D300s with 2 Sandisk cards in it.

a CF Extreme 60 Mb/s and a SD Extreme Pro 95 Mb/s.

The CF writes faster in camera and takes more shots before the buffer fills up and after that its much quicker to empty it. Even with a full buffer when things slow down it lets you take shots at a faster pace then the SD.

Only on readout on my computer the SD card is 1.5 times faster then the CF, as speedrating
suggests.
Also tested read/write speed in computer with a special program, same outcome.

So i imagine while there are much faster CF cards then mine, they have a purpose in regard to SD.

For my use I couldn't care less, but that's how it is.
