4/3 and m4/3 shooter here ... I own the E-3 and tested the E-5 on loan for a few weeks but decided not to spend the money to upgrade my E-3. I use the 4/3 mount 9-18mm, 12-60mm and 50-200mm SWD lenses on my 4/3 and m4/3 cameras.

I usually prefer to stick to native m4/3 lenses on my m4/3 cameras because they focus faster and they are smaller/lighter (a good match for the smaller/lighter m4/3 bodies).

The image quality on ANY m4/3 body (even the old E-P1) is "at least" as good as the image quality from the E-5 and the E-M5 is even better. The 4/3 lenses don't lose anything other than AF speed when they are mounted on m4/3 bodies so there's no reason to be concerned about image quality.
