External flash for Canon - Nissin or Canon or something else ?
Aug 10, 2012

Dear DPreviewers experts...

I'm considering to buy my first flash, and I'm looking in to a Canon 430EXII or Nissin Di866 Mark II - or something on that price range. I looked an the Yongnuo YN565EX which is very appealing from the price point, but I heard too many complaints about the flash not lasting even 1 year. I plan to use that as general flash and something that can last for a while. I looked at the speedlight.net and I'm aware of some of the differences, but I couldn't figure out what else I'm missing if I go 'off brand' with the flash. Do I lose any controls on the camera ? Or everything works according to the manual ? I have a 60D and planning to buy a MKIII in the next few months. I have a few lenses : 24-70L, 70-200L and EFS 15-85. Thanks for any input or recommendations.
