G1X Custom Display question

On the G1X "Custom Display", is there any way to access screen #3 and uncheck the "black screen" option and have a screen with only the image and no info ? The black screen annoys me ! I can't remember if that was the default and can't be modified or if there is a way to change it. I know this is discussed on p.132 of the manual, but I find it unclear.
