Any tips on buying used XZ-1?

I looking to find a deal on a used XZ-1, mainly for my wife, but for us to carry when without the larger DSLR's. Anyway, I was reading up on them awhile back, and thought I remembered reading something about the lens barrel leaving plastic shavings inside the camera. Have no idea if I remember that right or not.

Was this an issue, or where there other issues with the XZ-1 that I should be aware of while looking for used one? Is there a way to tell if the camera has, or could develop any specific issues? Or, should I just stick with new?
