D800E Any tips for using AI-S lenses

Just bought AIS 50mm f2 and 25mm f2 lenses off ebay. Any tips for mounting or using these AIS lenses on the D800E. Is the aperture controlled by the camera and does it display on the LCD. Do the lens open automatically for focus.

Are there any tricks for mounting the lens -- like a special position. I see reference to a special lug on the D800 mount for AI lenses. Does this lug fit in the lens silver tab area.

Any tips or comments on these lenses is also appreciated.
