Preventing Tripod Shaking
Aug 8, 2012

Last night I went to film a friend of mine who plays guitar and sings at a local bar over the water. I used 2 cameras on tripods to give me different angles. One problem I had was that if anyone walked within 5 feet of a camera, the wood floor would carry the vibration over to the camera and cause a very visible wobble. The best tripod I have is a Weifeng 717 (a cheap video tripod available on Amazon). I love the tripod, but the fact it is very light weight I fear may be part of the problem.

Would adding weight to the tripod help hid vibrations in the floor? I am a scuba diver so I do have lots of lead wight around I can attach to the tripod. Do you guys think that would help? If so, where would be the best point to attach? At the bottom of the legs to keep it bottom heavy?
