Great lens for sharpness where speed isn't a factor. The fact that it starts at an effective 24mm is pretty nice. Tough to beat as a kit (albeit, a pricier kit).

Not really, at least not at 12mm. It is sharp only in the very center, even at f/5.6. And CA at 12 mm runs wild. Pretty bad for landscapes.

If there's a weakpoint, it's the aperture - it's not just that it's 3.5 to 6.3, but by 25mm, we're already at 5.1 - that's a very quick stopping down the moment you start zooming. Then again, it's a kit lens.

There is 16-50/2.8 kit for Sony A77. m43 needs the speed even more.

I hope Olympus can make some faster zooms with less zoom range for a more reasonable price.

Now, when RX100 is out, if they don't, they will lose at least half of their market - those who buy only a camera with kit lens, or at least will not spring for something more expensive than Pana 14/2.5, Oly 17/2.8 or Sigma 19/2.8, all of which cannot beat the little pocket cam.
Without that part of the market they will die.
