NEX any good for product photography?
Aug 8, 2012

Hello there,

I am new to the forum, and relatively new to digital photography. I could use some advice on choosing a camera. I plan on primarily using it for product/furniture documentation (for online catalogs, portfolios, etc). While I do see myself taking this on the road for leisure shots, Its primarily location would be in my workshop (on a tripod, documenting products in a controlled lighted area).

The NEX series caught my eye due to the changeable lenses, but it seems there isn't much currently out there for these, no? ...do only Sony brand lenses attach?

I've also noticed that a lot of the features are geared toward 'fun' non-professional use (3D imaging, swivel LCD for self portraits, touch screens, etc). Is that what these are intended for? Can it be used as a professional device as well?

FWIW, there is a local sale that has the NEX C3K listed for $550 (new) which includes the 18-55 lens, along with a 'wide angle lens' and carrying case. A good deal?

thanks for any info, it is appreciated.
