I have the 60D and use the 24-105L on it. It is a great lens and will do fine on your crop camera.

I recommend getting a fast prime, like the 35f2 or 50F1.4, both by Canon. This will let you do indoor photos with natural light. If you can swing it, and will be taking photos someplace where you want an ultrawide, consider the Canon 10-22 or Tokina 12-24F4. I have the Tokina and I find that it is useful for stuff where my other lenses may not be wide enough - European travel, architecture, and some indoor room shots.

The Canon 24-105L gives you photos that rival good primes in how sharp they are - and that is what I want it for.
