Reading it all, I am not convinced it isn't a reflection - maybe one from the strike light bouncing off of the sensor on the lens element(s). But I don't know for sure what we're seeing - it just looks more like an optical effect than anything else.

Curious, surely.

Here is a copy of the original, with just very minimal processing to bump the contrast and a little NR. CA is there now, but no reflections....

And here's an extreme crop showing it is not shake....

The "tracer" theory is a definite possibility though!
