I can vouch with this statement since I just got my T4i back yesterday in the mail. It is indeed a new unit verified by Canon's Technical Support. As for the 30-day purchase window, I doubt there's a restriction to that. You won't be charged for any of the shipping/repair process. Just approx. 2-week wait time for your new body. I can't say it'll be a new unit replacement for Europe.
