I believe that DLO is a form of deconvolution, similar to that used by NASA to correct the original Hubble telescope aberrations. Given that Canon have access to the math for the sensor, camera body, lens and the DPP softwware, there should certainly be enough information to do something similar. Of course, that's serious recalculation of every pixel there, hardly surprising that the file size doubles!
