Prior to the D800 most of us (myself included) were confident to purchase a "next generation" Nikon Dslr product on spec alone. The D800 has changed that for a number of us. There is no doubt if there is a reasonable price point for a feature-rich FF in the mid-20mp range it will sell well.

However, this poster will NOT be an early adopter and will wait for others to take their licks. I doubt if I am alone.

If the D600 is full frame, has specs as rumored and is priced to sell ($1500-1700 USD), it will not have a hard launch in the universe I live in. Where has this lack of credibility come up, exactly? Because Nikon didn't have thru-put capacity to keep D800 bodies selling at $3K USD on the shelves? Because in spite of all reported problems, D800 bodies continue to sell?

It will sell fine. No, it won't be perfect. And it will still sell like hotcakes.
