Ok.. here are some samples of SX40 birds in the wild.. I typically shoot at -1/3EV sometime more as the camera does like to clip highlights. I like to use the multiple exposure mode to shoot a bunch of pictures and then sort out the keepers later. I use the viewfinder almost exclusively for birds with the small center focus point. The camera does a pretty good job even at 1.5X digital zoom if needed. I do post processing in Lightroom mostly for cropping, contrast and a little sharpening. I envy the guys with the big glass, but I really can't justify the cost for the number of hours I get out to do this stuff.
