I own both Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 and 24mm 1.4G. I have a wedding to shoot next. I've always relied on 24-70mm as my main lens to shoot with when it comes to wedding along with a short tele 85mm 1.4G. I kind of want to try something new/different and instead go with my 24mm 1.4G as my main lens, while pairing it with my 85mm 1.4.

Do you guys think it would be a wise idea to do so? Or should I stick with the 24-70mm as the main lens? The 24mm 1.4 renders a very different and special perspective which is why I am considering changing it up and going with that lens.

P.S. I will be shooting with D700 body.

My opinion, as much as I like primes, your 24-70mm is your best bet. You will miss less shots with the 24mm and 85mm having to switch lens. BTW, I think the 24mm is out of place at a wedding. It's too wide. The 70-200mm is a lovely choice without being intrusive at the reception.
