I second what Erik the Red did and photograph the images. I too had several hundred photographs I was going to scan on my flatbed scanner. It was taking so long I decided to give photographing them, and that was the perfect solution. I just setup my D700 on a low mounted tripod, placed each photograph against the floor and was at about 45 degree angle and snapped away.
