Finally snapped a Kingfisher

Was sat at a quiet little secluded spot at the usual reservoir hang-out at 6AM today hoping to see the KInfishers and this juvenile obliged. There was a fairly thick overcast and the area is quite shaded too, so lighting was not all that good. Also had to use the 1.5TC on the 300mm so lost a bit of sharpness there combined with the low light as well. Still, I'm happy enough just to have been able to finally get some shots of this lovely bird.

I keep telling myself I don't need that Sigma 500mm F4.5...... but it's getting even more difficult to restrain myself. I'll wait and see what the Pentax 560mm performs like before I decide to pull the trigger on a big prime though.

Both of these were handheld and cropped a bit too.
