PCI Express x16 versus PCI Express 2.0 x16

My Lenovo H210-H3644U desktop tower Tower computer, bought in January, 2009, with upgraded Windows 7 (32 bit) has the older PCI Express x16 slot (bus interface) for a video card. The card does not have HDMI and I would like to get a compatible card that does. It seems that all the cards for sale are PCI Express 2.0 x16. Will these newer cards be compatible with my older PCI Express X16 slot and computer?
