Sorry there is a technical misunderstanding in half the posts here. Maybe it has to do with the naming "Silent Shutter". Actually it is NOT a silent shutter but a silent mirror!. The shutter being responsible for the exposure is not changed at all! Therefore it is impossible to have any effects on the image! If you see differences then its user error. What changes the sound is the active control of the mirror which is a substantial piece of hardware that is normally crashed into a damping rubber or so. With the new mode the is so to say "electrical braking" before the crash by controlling the mirror actuator which leads to less noise and as a second bonus less stress to the mechanics! So aside from the reduced rate and longer reaction time which often is no problem there is only bonus!
