Well, on the issue of returning a lens, here's my response.

You are correct, that I knew all of the specs before buying. To be honest, I really had a hard time deciding to buy.

One point you make about substandard products being delivered - they cannot resell this lens as new. So no worries there.

I purchase a huge amount from Amazon (where I bought my lens). I am a member of their Prime program. Believe me, they get their money from me, and are quite happy with me as a customer. Amazon is so great BECAUSE they want me to be happy with my product, and are willing to let me make a mistake once in a while. In fact, I was completely honest in the return, admitting that there was nothing wrong, and that I merely changed my mind. If they're ok with that, why should anyone else care?

I certainly don't go out to buy and return products. On the other hand, I very much appreciate Amazon's policy on this.
