New models always come out with a higher price - P&S, mirrorless or SLR. The price usually drops when a newer model is about to be released.

Also, weather-resistant models of any brand tend to be priced higher. For that very reason you may keep it longer, and your total cost of ownership may come down when spread out. To me the specs suggest the OMD will be good for 5 years before it becomes seriously disadvantaged.
