60D: question regarding "resolution"
Aug 3, 2012

Hi folks,

I may have a silly question for you professionals, but I'm really a bit at a loss here.

About 3 weeks ago, I bought a 60D (after having owned several superzooms and never having been absolutely happy with those). I just had a call from a friend and we talked about pictures and their quality. He owns a Nikon D80 and can take pictures with "vertical and horizontal resolution" of 300 dpi, whereas my (newer) 60D takes pictures with only 72 dpi. From my printer, I know that more dpi usually means better quality. But I did not find a setting in my 60D (nor in the manual) where I could set this resolution to a higher number.

Am I confusing something? That would not come as a surprise to me, because I AM confused ... Any help is much apreciated; thanks a lot.

Cheers from Swiitzerland,
Kurt
