I get great results for the type of shots I look for- generally urban and industrial landscapes with a fairly modest level of ambient light. I look for moody, mysterious scenes, I try to avoid too much contrast from streetlights, etc. Once those distractions have been removed through careful choice of scene, time of night, and composition, the rest really is easy, and with a little RAW processing, the low ISO results in remarkable print quality. I wouldn't recommend the exact same approach for astrophotography, but as you can see from a few of my shots, even a 30 second exposure at low ISOs pulls in plenty of star detail in clear northern and western skies.
